“Frankenstein” was a late addition to Edgar Winters THEY ONLY COME OUT AT NIGHT album. It was then added as the B side of a single. Disc jockeys turned the record over and one million plus copies sold in The United States later it was a hit.
It was a rare instrumental song to hit number one on Billboard’s singles charts in The United States.
What made the record unique and influential was an early use of a synthesizer sound as the lead instrument. The combination of sounds and textures made it both memorable and listenable. It is hard rock pop at its best.
It remains Edgar Winters signature song and still receives airplay over 35 years after its release.
