Neil Young responded by writing a biting anti-war song about the incident which became a hit song a month later. It just missed being available for their DEJA VU album.

The lyrics would strike a chord with the youth generation of the day and would help fan the flames of protest that broke out across America.

Today the song is a relic of a past generation yet is still a powerful song that reflects the moral conscience of the day. It was released with a picture sleeve that printed the lyrics which was the point.
