This record is the holy grail of my collection. Sometime during the summer of 1964 I walked, yes walked, to Herioux’s music store in Woonsocket, Rhode Island and purchased my first 45. “The Little Old Lady From Pasadena” still proudly resides in my vinyl collection.
Jan & Dean were in the midst of the most production part of their career. They were second only to The Beach Boys as the leading producers of surf and car music in The United States. “The Little Old Lady From Pasadena” would rise to number three on the American charts.
It featured the well known Jan & Dean harmonies and a whimsical story of a granny who drove the fastest car on the block.
While thousands of records have followed this one into my collection, this one remains the most valuable to me.
