Sail On Sailor 45 by The Beach Boys

“Sail On Sailor” was released twice about two years apart. The first was Feb. 24, 1973 and the second was April 12, 1975. It reached numbers 79 and 49, respectively, on the American singles charts.

The song probably deserved better as it contained classic harmonies and a soothing sound. It was the last song added to their HOLLAND album, and was only included because their label felt the album needed a hit.

It was a rare Beach Boys song with a Blondie Chaplin lead vocal. It proved the Beach Boys were still producing good music but that the music buying public was moving in other directions. A very underrated Beach Boys single.
