The Association are best remembered for their gentle ballads and soft rock songs, such as their number one hits, “Cherish” and “Windy.”
Their first single was an exception to this trend. “Along Comes Mary” was a catchy rocker. Released June 4, 1966, it reached number seven on the BILLBOARD MAGAZINE POP Singles Chart. It introduced them to the music world.
One cannot argue with success but maybe the commercially successful part of their career might have lasted a little longer if they had gone in a rock direction more often.
“Along Comes Mary” remains an excellent outing from The Association.
