The Bachelors were formed during 1957 as a harmonica trio of all things. Brothers Con & DeClan Cluskey and John Stokes eventually changed into a vocal trio. The Irish trio were always more popular in Great Britain than the United States but they did manage to chart nine singles on the BILLBOARD MAGAZINE Pop Singles Chart, 1964-1967.
THey reached back to 1936 for “Chapel In The Moonlight.” Shep Fields had taken the song to number one in 1936. They were a pure pop vocal trio with tight harmonies. They were able to be commercially successful during the Beatles era. Their version of “Chapel In The Moonlight” reached number 32 on the Pop Chart in the USA.
The hits dried up at the end of the decade but the original trio stayed together until 1984.
