Mike Post is best known as the composer of dozens of television themes. “Law & Order,” “NYPD Blues,” “L.A Law,” “Quantum Leap,” “Magum P I,” “Hill Street Blues,” “White Shadow,” “Wiseguy,” “Hunter,” and a number of other themes came from the fertile mind of Mike Post.
Every once in a while one of his themes would become a hit single and so it was with “The Rockford Files.” It was written while he was in his early 20s and became the first hit of his career. Released during the spring of 1975, it reached number 10 on the BILLBOARD MAGAZINE Pop Singles Chart.
I saw him perform about 20 years ago at DISNEY WORLD. He led a band performing many of his TV themes. Hearing them apart from their TV series made me realize just how well-constructed and catchy he music was.
