Curtis Lee was born in Yuma, Ariszona, in 1941 and signed his first recording contract in 1959. He quickly formed a songwriting partnership with Tommy Boyce. Their first two songs failed to chart but the third release was the charm.
“Pretty Little Angel Eyes” was a catchy doo-wop type of song, with Phil Spector providing the production work. It reached number seven on the BILLBOARD MAGAZINE Pop Chart during the summer of 1961.
He would have one more chart entry later in the year but the hits would dry up and by 1969 he was out of music industry and in the construction industry.
