Rock And Roll Waltz by Kay Starr

Kay Starr is sometimes a forgotten figure but during the 1950’s she was a star. She placed 42 singles on the BILLBOARD MAGAZINE Pop Singles Chart, 1948-1952. Her first number one song came in 1952 when “Wheel Of Fortune” topped the Charts. Her second came during 1955, which made he the first female to have a number one song during the rock and roll era.

“Rock and Roll Waltz” was almost an after thought and was not the usual type of song she sang as it was a simple and smooth pop song. It proved to be her signature release. It sold over a million copies and topped all four of the BILLBOARD MAGAZINE Pop Singles Charts.

Most Played By Disc Jockey Chart – 3/10/56 – 1 week at number one.
Most Played In Jukeboxes Chart – 3/10/56 – 6 weeks at number one.
Billboard Top 100 Chart – 3/3/56 – 3 weeks at number one.

Kay starr was married six times and at the age of 90 still continues to perform.
