River Deep – Mountain High 45 by Ike & Tina Turner

Riveer Deep, Mountain High

One of the most spectacular singles of all time that never came close to being a hit.

Phil Spector gathered Ike and Tina Turner in the staudio and applied his Wall Of Sound to “River Deep – Mountain High.” Very few women could sing with the energy and passion of the young Tina Turner and when you add in Spector’s production and Ike’s funky guitar and backing band, you have an instant classic.

Maybe it was ahead of its time but it only reached number 88 on the BILLBOARD MAGAZINE Pop Singles Chart during the spring of 1966. Nevertheleass, it is still worth seeking out.
