Wayne Cochran and his C.C. Riders have played an explosive brand of rock and roll for a half century. He has never had a chart single but his music is elemental and excellent rock and roll.
He may not have been a household word but once you saw him you would never forget him. He performed with a white pompadour and a cape. “Harlem Shuffle” was typical of his records as it was an excellent cover song.
His major claim to fame was as the composer of the “Last Kiss,” which J. Frank Wilson took to number two on the BILLBOARD MAGAZINE Hot 100 Singles Chart in 1964.
His music can be hard to find but any of his albums are well worth a listen.
