Joey Dee formed the Starliters during the late 1950s. He shared the vocals with David Brigati and by the early 1960s they were the house band at The Peppermint Lounge and had appeared in the movie, HEY LET’S TWIST. At various times Gene Cornish, Eddie Brigati, and Felix Cavaliere, who would form the Young Rascals and Jimi Hendrix were members of the band.

They placed nine singles on the BILLBOARD MAGAZINE Hot 100, 1961-1963, with two making the top 10. The first was the chart topping “Peppermint Twist.”

The only other single to enter the top ten was “Shout.” Released suring early 1962, it reached number six. Joey Dee and The Starliters always had a bar band sound. Joe Dee and Dave Brigati are still on the road even though the hits stopped 50 years ago.
