Young Love by Tab Hunter

Sonny James had one of the biggest country hits of the decade when “Young Love” topped the BILLBOARD Country Chart for nine weeks. It even managed to cross over to the BILLBOARD Pop Charts and reach the top of the Most Played By Disc Jockeys Chart for one week.

Sonny James was just the warm-up for Tab Hunter, who was a young movie actor during the 1950s. He would release a pop version of the song and it became one of the biggest hit singles of the year. It reached the top of all four BILLBOARD Pop Singles Charts.

Best Sellers In Stores Chart – 3/2/57 – 4 weeks at number one
Most Played By Disc Jockeys Chart – 2/16/57 – 6 weeks at number one.
Most Played In Jukeboxes Chart – 3/2/57 – 1 week at number one.
Billboard Hot 100 – 2/16/57 – 6 weeks at number one.

Hunter would chart 7 songs during the 1950s but fade from the scene during the 1960s. He would remain active in the movie industry but never attain the commercial success of the 1950s.
