Hang On Sloopy By The McCoys

One of the great American rock songs of the 1960’s reached number one on the Billboard Pop Chart for the week of October 2, 1965.

“My Girl Sloopy” was original recorded by the Vibration in 1964. The McCoys took this R&B song, changed the name to “Hang On Sloopy,” and molded it into a straight forward rocker.

During the next three years they placed nine songs on the on the Hot 100, including “Fever,” which reached number seven.

Lead guitarist/vocalist Rick Zehringer would change his name to Rick Derringer and enjoy a long career as a hard rocker leaving behind this wonderful relic of the 1960’s.
