Dizzy Miss Lizzy/Slow Down 45 by Larry Williams

Larry Williams, 1935-1980, was a New Orleans singer/songwriter who was a label mate of Lttle Richard on the Specialty label during the late 1960s. He had such big hits as “Short Fat Fannie” and “Bonnie Maronie.”

“Dizzy Miss Lizzy/Slow Down” was his last chart single for the label. Released during early 1958, it only reached number 69 on the BILLBOARD MAGAZINE Pop Singles Chart. The single might have faded away except for The Beatles.

Both songs were covered by The Beatles and “Slow Down” was an A side of one of their singles. Both songs are now more associated with them than Larry Williams. Still, It is well worth tracking down his 1950s work as his material is an excellent fusion of rock and R&B.
