About

I have been collecting vinyl records for over forty years and my collection is approaching 50.000 records. My wife Susan and children, Stacey and Amy, have learned to humor my passion. I am now settled in beautiful Whispering Pines, North Carolina where I read, listen to music, follow my beloved Red Sox and UConn Huskies, and live off the fat of the land.

…interesting take on our “13 Seasons” Cd…being an older player(56),and growing up in San Francisco during the time that we babyboomers over-romanticize as a artistically defining period of the last 40 years,I wonder how your subjective point of view about music has been formed…you can have a ton of records (Michael Ochs did too,but he told me he had to get rid of them,he just got tired of the upkeep),but how does that give one the perspective to judge???(it’s ok,I realize you listen,so that gives you the right)…we like what we like, and that’s it…I ramble, but I must say I envy your collection,as my paltry 5,000 pieces pale to my liege (salute)…I think we did a more than respectful version of “I’ll Follow The Sun”,and agree that “Let’s Live For Today” has a vibe…um,it’s “Over Before It Started”,just for accuracy in reporting sake…
    …just asking,do you play???…from one old fart to another,thanks for listening,Stevie Gurr…

Thanks for the comments. My big problem is that neither of my daughters want my record collection. I have a grand daughter who is fasinated with 45’s so there is hope. I listen to everything I review. At present I am gathering all the reviews I have written over the years into one place(here). Your album was the featured Indy release on the Daily Vailt the weekend of Jan. 9, 2009. Rock On! David

Wow 50,000 records! Where do you keep them all? I used to listen to a lot of my Dad’s records when I was younger and have recently started building up my collection again by scouring second hand and charity shops for vinyl of interest. Love your blog!

Thank You. I converted my garage into a record room/storage area. Ebay/Gemm.com/Music Stack are all good sites for vinyl. Thanks, David
